Girls Run the VMAs

“Who run the world? Girls!” sings Beyoncé in her latest hit “Run the World (Girls).”

Although there wasn’t a dominant winner at last night’s MTV VMAs, the ladies unquestionably sparkled.

Katy Perry took home top honors, winning Video for the Year for “Firework” and Best Collaboration with Kanye West for “E.T,” while Adele collected the most moon statues with wins for Best Art Direction, Editing, Cinematography, and Direction for “Rolling in the Deep.”

Lady Gaga, who stayed in character the entire night as male alter ego Jo Calderone, won for Best Female Video and Best Video With a Message, both for “Born This Way.”

Beyoncé, meanwhile, caused the biggest stir with her performance of 4‘s cut “Love on Top.”

Her lyric “I want you to feel the love growing inside of me” took on new meaning at the song’s conclusion as she dropped the microphone and pulled open her jacket to reveal her baby bump.

Watch her performance below, as well as Adele’s live performance of “Someone Like You.”
