Guitar Player Magazine Interviews Sharon Isbin

Guitar Player magazine recently interviewed classical guitarist Sharon Isbin to talk about her new album, Sharon Isbin & Friends: Guitar Passions.

The Grammy Award-winning guitar player told the magazine that her new, Latin-themed album pays tribute to composers that impacted her musical career.

Guitar Passions is a guitar tribute album with a Latin theme,” said Isbin. “It crosses the boundaries of people who are very present in the musical world today, and people who have figured in my life in the past in important ways, such as Joaquin Rodrigo, who put the guitar on the map in 1939 with his ‘Concierto de Aranjuez,’ and the late Laurindo Almeida, who brought bossa nova to the West and arranged ‘Adagio’ from the Rodrigo work, a revised version of which appears on the album. The uniting force is that we’re all passionate about the guitar!”

Guitarists playing in Isbin’s album include six string virtuoso Steve Vai, Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse, and Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson.
